Network: Connecting to the wired network
Setting up a wired connection for your computer has only a few steps:
  1. Making sure that you have the correct cable.
  2. Connecting the cable to the correct port.
  3. Installing and running Cisco Clean Access.

Step #1
Verify that your computer meets the minimum requirements:
Supported Operating Systems:
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP
  • Mac 10.3
  • Linux
Processor:
  • Pentium 4
Hardware:
  • NIC card for 10 Base T

Step #2
Verify that you have an RJ-45 cable. RJ-45 cables are thicker than regular phone cords and the plugs are also larger.

Step #3
Connect one end of the RJ-45 to the the Ethernet port on the back of the computer, and the other into the wall jack for Ethernet. The RJ-45 should click into place.

Turn on the computer.

Step #4
Note: There are separate instructions for users operating Linux or Mac OS X. See Step 6.

Open Internet Explorer. The first screen that opens should be Cisco Clean Access, which will ask for your login credentials. These are the same that you use to log in to the portal.

Step #5
Install and run Cisco Clean Access. You may need to update your computer with Symantec antivirus and turn on your operating system's firewall.

Once you have added the updates and Cisco Clean Access gives your computer a clean bill of health, you will be connected to the Marietta network.

Step #6
For users running Linux or Mac OS X:
Go to caserver.marietta.edu.
Type the same user name and password that you use for your Marietta email.

Note: Once your computer is authenticated on the MC network, the "caserver.marietta.edu" link will not be accessible.
